Description | The EMS Vocoder 1000 from Electronic Music Studios is a 16 band filter model and has great intelligibility, along with a lot of cool features like adjustable and VC slew rate/shape with freeze input, pause stuffing from either input with adjustable release time, built-in oscillator, etc. In short, this is a serious big-league vocoder... not quite a Sennheiser, big Synton or EMS 5000, but definitely far beyond the Roland/Korg/MAM league.
The Vocoder 1000 was first released in 1978 and was used by Jean Michel Jarre at the time. A "Rev 2 " was released in 1984 with slight differences from the first release and the addition of a rack mountable casing with handles.
The 1000 is sought after more than it's sibling the Vocoder 2000. Functionally both the 1000 and the 2000 are nearly identical except there is better HF response and the input and output jack setups are located in different sections of the chassis. |

As with a piano, the harder you hit a key, the louder the sound, unlike most organs which always produce the same loudness no matter how hard you hit a key. |
Aftertouch |
Pressing a key after you activated it. Channel Aftertouch, no matter which key, it will send a Channel message. Poly Aftertouch, sends the pressure per key instead of the whole channel. |
Values for OSC, LFO, Filter, Envelope are per voice unless stated otherwise. |
